True Grit

For our annual Christmas evening movie this year, we saw True Grit (thanks, Mom and Dad!). It was fabulous. I am not an avid Coen Brothers (I know that the “b” shouldn’t really be capitalized, but the phrase has almost replaced their names, so what the heck?) fan, but this move was fabulous. I expected a typical Western with some Coen Brothers dark flare, but what I got was a witty, dramatic, thrilling, and complex film. My favorite part? The dialogue–very funny. I laughed throughout the movie, while also being scared and curious about what would happen next. Movie Recommendation

Confession: I LOVE watching movies and shows on Hulu and Netflix instant movie player. We have run across some good ones and some bad ones over the past few years. Recently, we took a chance on Management, starring Jennifer Anniston and Steve Zahn. Despite our low expectations, it was really good!

On the other hand, I watched Something To Talk About (yes, based off the Bonnie Rait hit- love it) last night. Though I adore Julia Roberts, it was a let-down.
