My friends – Did you have a nice weekend? Did you take advantage of its tax-free-ness?

It’s been a bit sparse around Idaclare, as AK has been in the process of moving (eek!) and I have taken on some fun new projects I am excited to share with you soon. I’m sure AK will fill you in on her adventures of late when she has time to catch her breath.

If you’re easing into your week by rummaging around the interwebs, take a peek at my latest Pinterest activity…

Adorable twisted bun…looks doable, yes?

Loving this simple ring.

Oh, Jenna Lyons…Can I be you for a day? Ok, maybe for life?

On the menu this week…Sesame Yogurt Pasta Salad…yum.

Here’s the bag I finally decided on…Checking the mail every day in anticipation of its arrival!

Ballet flats seem to be all the rage. But I love a good pair of pointy shoes. They are so feminine and classic, don’t you think? Here are a few of my favorite pairs.

I got a kick out of reading Paul’s answers to my questions about his favorite routines and traditions. This week, I asked Hillary about her daily routines and staples…By the way, check out Hill’s witty and adorable blog, Keepin’ Up with the Jones.

What three items are always in your pantry/kitchen?

Orange Juice, Pasta, and Coke. I can’t live without OJ in the mornings I get really cranky if I don’t have it, it’s weird but such a refreshing way to start the day. Pasta is always good to have in the pantry because it never goes bad and you can always whip up a quick dinner with some pasta and a little olive oil and voila you have a nice little din din (not frozen) and you didn’t even have to go anywhere. Coke, as unhealthy as it is, is always (hopefully) in my fridge — law school requires a serious amount of caffeine and I don’t drink coffee.

What three items of clothing could you not go one week without?

In this winter/spring transition my three staples are my J Crew black leggings, my brown riding boots, and my tan/beige J Crew cardigan (wow I sound like such a fashion icon haha). Leggings really get me everywhere in this weather from playing with Jones, to running to the grocery store, and to heading to class. My riding boots have seen better days because I wear them almost every day and I’m dreading replacing them next season, but I’m still obsessed. My tan cardigan gets thrown on over almost every outfit, its just so darn cold in class.

What part of your daily routine can you not go without?

This is tricky to decide because I have two routines one old, one new, so here are both.

Old: I talk to Todd every night around bed-time and even though he says he doesn’t like the phone he usually lets me chat, vent, rant, rave, be excited about whatever was going on in the day, sometimes I even let him tell me about his day :) . At the risk of sounding like an obsessive girlfriend, a lot of days with everything going on in school and life this is my favorite part of the day and I hate missing it. Its a really nice way to wind down. When we don’t talk, sometimes I just feel like the day just abruptly ends.

New: My new routine is with Jones in the morning. I am not a morning person and Jones has really helped me with that. He usually wakes up bright and early, I take him out of the crate, we lay around in my bed for a bout 20 minutes, then we head for a three mile walk through North Campus (the really pretty part of UGA’s campus where daffodils, trees, and other flowers are currently blooming). It’s really helped me start the morning and my days off right. I feel so accomplished at 8:00AM knowing all that I have done.

We all know how important layering is in during seasonal transition. Below I highlight perhaps the most significant staple in my wardrobe, and that most essential to pulled-together layering: the cardigan.

It’s important to have a little stash of cardis that vary in fit, color and material. This way, you can effectively layer for all occasions—running errands, a nice dinner out, a baby shower. My basic rotation consists of 2 black cadigans—1 fitted and wool, 1 longer and cotton; 2 cream cardigans—1 long and wool, 1 short and with pretty tulle flower detail on 1 side of v-neck; 1 light heather gray, flowy long number with silk on the back panel and 1 longish olive green wool cardigan with gold sequins peeking out of the pockets. As you can see, I go for solids and neutrals.

Here are three basic categories. Click on photos for links.

Long, chunky, cozy. Wear over yoga clothes running errands. Wear with leggings on a lunch date. Wear on the airplane for comfort and style.

Fitted, classic. Great for work, dinners and parties. Wear with slacks or a skirt. Wear over a flirty dress. Wear over a silk blouse at night.

Dressier, long. Great for social events or dinners out. Wear over your favorite tank or tea. Wear with jeans or leggings.

In order to kick a long-standing, nasty habit of nail-biting, I’ve taken up the hobby discipline of painting my nails.  Despite my initial doubts, I’ve gradually improved my ability to paint my right hand’s finger nails. Tricky. Patience is necessary.

I’ve blogged about my favorite nail polish colors before. I’m still loyal to my favorite dark gray polish, You Don’t Know Jacques, but I’ve also come across a new fave: Over the Taupe. (I love OPI’s puns! Who has the job of creating these? I want to meet them.) What are your favorite winter nail polish colors?
