My place of employment is Caritas of Austin, a nonprofit organization in downtown Austin that has been fighting hunger and homelessness since 1964. When I tell people this, they usually as me what Caritas means. Caritas is Latin for love, though many try to pronounce it according to the Spanish pronunciation.
Last week I attended the website launch of the Downtown Austin Alliance’s (DAA) new website, www.downtownaustintv.org. A blend of a social networking sight for downtown businesses and organizations and a video sharing website, downtownaustintv.org is definitely worth checking out. The site features clips of episodes of DOWNTOWN, a TV series produced by the DAA, Action Figure and KLRU-TV. You can check it out on Thursdays at 8 pm on KLRU-Austin PBS. Catch Season 4 beginning next Thursday, October 23.
Ok, so there is a connection between these 2 things-Caritas and the DAA. Below is a video that aired on DOWNTOWN in the spring of 2007. It profiles Caritas and its services. Check it out–
